WE ARE HIRING GREEN GUIDES IN BERLIN
BECOME A GREEN GUIDE
Do you want to share your passion and knowledge about green and sustainable cities with people from all over the world? Then take a look here!
We are looking for a student in Berlin who would like to join our small green team of people. We offer guided tours on sustainability and green transition in Copenhagen, Malmö and Berlin. The job will primarily be as a green guide, but you can also be offered other tasks related to developing our tours, concept, manuscripts, SoMe content etc.
Who are we?
Green Bike Tours is a company offering guided biking and walking tours in Copenhagen, Malmö and Berlin with focus on sustainability and green transition in cities. Lately we have also developed online guided tours to accommodate travel restrictions. We have visits from all over the world with many different types of groups – students, politicians, green companies and ‘normal’ tourists interested in the green topic and alternative city exploration. You can read more about our tours and concepts on www.greenbiketours.org .
We are a relatively small company consisting of currently five green guides in Copenhagen and Malmö and three green guides in Berlin. All employees are involved actively in the development of the business and our tours, and you can therefore have a big influence.
Who are we looking for?
You don’t need any guide experience, but you should be outgoing, have a positive spirit, be a good storyteller and be able to take responsibility for people on our tours. You will be taught some guide-techniques etc. before you start guiding. Most importantly: you should have an interest in sustainability and the green field, and you should have some basic knowledge about topics such as green energy, transportation and urban development. For example, you are a university student within natural or social sciences, urban planning or topics related. We have all the information you need to present on a tour, but you should have a basic understanding, so you can answer questions from guests within this field and interact with our guests.
Most of our tours are in English, so it is a must that you speak this fluently. Other language skills like German is a plus. Preferably you have at least 2-3 years left before you graduate.
By being a guide, you obtain skills within communication which will be of use later in life and during oral exams and presentations. You will learn a lot about the cities’ sustainability efforts and explore different parts of the city. It is also an active job with lots of sunshine and wind in your face.
We can’t guarantee a fixed number of hours as this differ a lot depending on the season, and especially with the current situation. However, we offer other tasks to ensure more hours beside guiding. We show considerations during exam periods etc. but also expect some flexibility from the guide in return. We expect guides to check their mail often and reply quickly when you are requested on a tour.
You will be paid 20 euro per hour on a guided tour and receive half an hour extra payment for every tour. For all other task, you will receive 16 euro per hour. You are also paid a fixed number of hours to learn a new tour.
If this sounds interesting to you, then send a short application and CV as soon as possible to CEO Helene Hjortlund firstname.lastname@example.org.
