Don’t you know what to visit in Copenhagen, I can definitely recommend you to go to these 3 places: Superkilen, ARC (amager resource center) and Harbor bath. And you can actually visit all 3 of them on different tours with us Green bike Tours.
What does Superkilen (an urban open space in the neighborhood of Nørrebro), Amager incineration plant and the harbor bath have in common? If we take a closer look at their functionality, or where they are situated, they have zero in common, but if we start looking at who designed them, bingo – here is what connects these 3 places. And now you are probably waiting in breathless excitement yes? Tadahhh it is the work of a brilliant Danish architect, Bjarke Ingells from BIG.
What to visit in Copenhagen
Have you been going around wondering what to visit in Copenhagen, you should start with the harbor bath. And you can actually visit that during the tour The liveable capital of the future tour by bike with Green Bike Tours. This is the earliest work by BIG. It was built in 2003 and is the first out of 5 harbor baths in Copenhagen. It is also a great time of year now to visit it, if you could do with a refreshing swim in the harbor. And if you are thinking “What! I will not swim in some filthy water in the city center”. Well you’re wrong. The water in the harbor is as clean as the water in the sea and has been so for over 15 years! So no more excuses just jump in! And if you are reading this blog post during winter time, well the harbor bath was actually built for the winter swimmers, the Vikings who wanted a dip in the freezing water so no excuse here either…
Superkilen in Nørrebro
So, we are listing what to visit in Copenhagen and the next thing is Superkilen in Nørrebro. This is also created by BIG in 2012 and is one of the stops on our Green city tour by bike which you can book right here. We have tours every Sunday. This is an amazing place – the park has 3 zones, the red, the black and the green with each a theme. Join us to see this for yourself!
ARC – An incineration plant of the future
The third thing to visit while you’re in Copenhagen is ARC – Amager Ressource Center. Actually for now you can hear about it and see it when joining our The liveable capital of the future tour by bike, but by the end of 2018 you’re actually able to visit this place and ski down a ski slope! This amazing incineration plant doesn’t only burn waste but is also a recreational area with a ski slope, a climbing wall and a panoramic restaurant at the top – designed by BIG.
