From this week and until the 23rd of February Copenhagen light festival is here to provide us all with some light and colour, here in the cold dark winter times. The festival takes place all over Copenhagen with several pop-up displays and light installations. The festival is meant to light up the otherwise dark and boring afternoons and evenings here in February. Some of the lightshows are free of charge, others you need to buy a ticket in advance. A few of the lightshows you should not miss this weekend are following:
Thursday 6th: Lightshow at Glyptoteket. Glyptoteket’s facade will aglow with “flames” along with a light installation created by lighting designer Jesper Kongshaug and a group of students from NEXT (and educational institution in Copenhagen. The lightshow will start at 5pm and finish at 10pm. During this period there will be volunteers from CPH Volunteers who can explain more about the light installation. The event is free of charge and furthermore you will be able to join a guided tour outside Glyptoket afterwards. Read more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2564227503808346/
Friday 7th: SOLARIS at Reffen. Solaris is a multi-sensory installation, striving to create an extraordinary experience, allowing the audience to be immersed in cosmic light and sound. The visuals and soundscape are interpreted from NASA’s archives, bridging the arts and science. The visuals unfold as a three-dimensional play of light of over three kilometres of suspended string, expanding over six meters in height and nine in width. The event is also free of charge, all you have to do is find your way to reffen. Read more about it here:https://www.facebook.com/events/198785331245618/
Saturday 8th: If moving around in the cold dark weather is not really your thing, not to fear! This Saturday you are able to catch a canal tour around Copenhagen and experience all the beautiful light displays from the seaside. During the 45 minutes tour in a covered and heated boat, a guide will explain about the different lightshows and the artists behind it.
The fare is 125kr. Read more and book tickets here: https://www.stromma.com/da-dk/kobenhavn/udflugter/temature/lysfestival/?fbclid=IwAR0MvtKf5r2BjWk6NgGjk4ANSp7gl9TgzYM6V3qp5m0F9mZS36pN2BYEzXs
