This week we are taking a look at the best gardens and parks in Copenhagen. With spring providing mild temperatures and sunny afternoons it seems like the perfect setup for getting out there and enjoying Copenhagen’s many lovely gardens and parks.
- Assistens Kirkegården
The most famous cemetery in Denmark in located in the heart of Nørrebro right next to Nørrebro’s Runddel. The cemetery has celebrities such as H.C. Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and Niels Bohr buried there. However, the cemetery is also a beloved picnic destination or the perfect place for a casual walk. Grab a cup of coffee and explore the different – but cosy cemetery, which is one of the biggest green ares in Nørrebro. In addition to this, it is a stop on our tour 3: “THE LOCAL URBAN VIBE AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY TOUR” which you can read more about here: https://greenbiketours.org/vare/the-local-urban-vibe-and-social-sustainability-tour/
- Byoasen Østerbro
This place is especially great if you are a family with kids. In byoasen in Østerbro you have the possibility of visiting the chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and goats that live there. These animals eat the organic leftovers from the residents of the area and receives a lot of attention from the kids (and adults). There’s also a greenhouse with exotic plants and birds, where you can sit and relax or eat your lunchbox.
- Fælledparken
Fælledparken is one the most beloved parks in Copenhagen. Its name is roughly translated to “the shared park”, which is because this was once part of the shared area used of the farmers of Copenhagen a long time ago, where everybody could use the area for their livestock to graze.
- Botanisk have
Located very centrally right next to Nørreport is this very nice park which translates to “botanical garden”. The garden has Denmark’s biggest collection of living plants and it even has a museum connected to it. Definitely worth a visit!
- Frederiksberg have
In the heart of Frederiksberg you find Frederiksberg have which is perfect for an afternoon stroll and chill. And if you are lucky you can spot the elephants in the zoo from the park!
- Landbohøjskolens have
This garden is a hidden gem in Copehagen as it is not the most famous garden, but definitely one of the coziest. The garden is created in a romantic style and even has a little cafe in the middle of it.
