The transition of the fashion industry to become more sustainable

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and globally we will consume 63% more cloth and shoes in 2030. Producing one kilo of cotton – equivalent to a pair of jeans – requires 20.000 liters of water. Meanwhile, it is estimated that by 2030, four billion people will lack access to clean drinking water. The industry also has a social impact as clothes is being produced of people with varying working and living conditions. During this lecture we will discuss how fashion can become more sustainable in regards to environmental and social impacts.
